Romans 5:8 (BBE)

But God made clear his love to us, in that, when we were still sinners, Christ gave his life for us.

By now, you are at the halfway point of your 14-week journey.

I hope you're seeing the fruit of labor. Your journey has required strength, discipline, and a hunger for God.

Before we get into this week's devotional, I want to encourage you to keep going. You're doing great!

There is a song that says, "I climbed up to the highest mountain, looked all around, couldn't find nobody."

The song is called Nobody Greater, and it speaks to the unmatched greatness of God.

Have you ever been at your wit's end trying to comprehend the love of God? When you think about it, the concept of God's love seems bizarre; it doesn't add up.

While we were yet sinners, scripture says Christ died for us. I'm sure you've heard the rundown of our history.

We were disconnected from God because of our disobedience, and throughout time, people would continue to sin against God. Instead of wiping humanity out for good, God sent a savior, his son Jesus Christ.

Okay, that's my cliffnote version of how it happened. The main thing is that we shouldn't be here, and we shouldn't exist.

Our sentence was death, but instead we got the lamb of God?

This love is incomparable to any love we have ever seen.

Sometimes, when we're deep in a pit because of sin, grief, or life's disappointments, our connection to the cross of Christ isn't felt.

It seems what Christ did was so far back in time, and presently you're stuck in a mess that you can't see your way out of.

I've been there. I've hit rock bottom to the point that I couldn't see how the sacrifice of Christ could cover the things that I'd done. How could his love ever reach me?

This is what I mean about us not being able to comprehend the love of God. The Bible says he gives us beauty in trade of our ashes. What kind of trade is that?

Fortunately, this trade wasn't a one-time trade. God continually offers us his beauty for our ashes when he grants us new mercies every morning.

This love isn't conditional, and it doesn't have an expiration date.

God is deeply in love with you. He wants you to trust him with your whole life.

He intends to make you better than he found you. That's just the amazingly unexplainable love of God.

Pray this prayer

Father,

Thank you for your unconditional love that grants me new mercies every day. I am no longer under the law; I am under your grace. When I feel unworthy and lose hope, remind me of your love. I proclaim that I am deeply loved by you. In Jesus's name, amen.
