Matthew 28:20 (KJV)

I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

It is officially week 3 of your journey. My prayer is that you're seeing God move in your life.

Fasting and praying are great ways to receive clarity, and these devotionals are to help your faith.

This week affirms that God will never leave us. The first week was about God being with us, but what does God want us to understand when he says he will never leave us?

I can hear your thoughts already, "You don't have to tell me that God will never leave me. I already know that." Yes, our God sits high and looks low, but what revelations do we receive knowing God isn't just with us but will never leave us?

Does it mean that God is always in our hearts?

I don't believe God's intent was metaphorical or philosophical, but literal. When God says he will never leave you, he means just that.

When I think about God never leaving, I think about how he is an omnipresent God.

Jeremiah 23 says, "Am I only a God who is near, and not a God at a distance? In what secret place may a man take cover without me seeing him? Is there any place in heaven or earth where I am not?

The scriptures speak to God being with us in a literal sense and not just a heartfelt way.

So when you're lying in bed, God is there. When you're driving or when you're eating, God is there.

Since God is with us in a literal sense, could it be our emotions or our overbearing thoughts that keep us from consciously walking with God?

Could it be the busyness of our day or that social media or TV has our full and devoted attention?

Distractions are the enemy of sensing the presence of God, yet we can't get enough of them. It almost seems like we crave distractions more than we hunger for God.

I have also been guilty of this, and I've found that distractions serve the purpose of starving our soul of what it needs. It feeds our spirit loads of junk until we are spiritually dead.

We think of God being present when we cry out for help, but what if constant communication with God prevented us from needing to be rescued in the first place?

God wants us to stop thinking about him as a hotline and think of him as a friend. God used to walk with Adam and Eve, and I imagine God wants to walk with us too.

Being conscious of God's presence allows us to remain connected with him. Practice talking with God like a friend or sing unto him.

God is everywhere you go; it's up to you to be mindful of him.

Pray this prayer

Father,

You are the omnipresent God. I desire to go about my days being mindful of your presence, so I ask for your help to remove the distractions and hindrances in my way. I want to know you better and see you move in my life like never before. Lord, be my guide and be my help, and thank you for never leaving me. In Jesus's name, amen.
