Jeremiah 1:5 (BBE)
Before you were formed in the body of your mother I had knowledge of you, and before your birth I made you holy.
Have you ever wondered why God created us? He desired to create something in his image.
His angels watched him as he crafted a figure out of dust, breathed his own life into it, and called his creation man.
I don't know how long we walked the earth with God before we fell out of his will, but by one man's disobedience, our end was death. Still, God chose to save humanity.
Haven't we proven to God that we're not deserving of the life he gives? What is it that God sees in you and me?
God says in Jeremiah 1:5, "Before you were formed in the body of your mother I had knowledge of you, and before your birth I made you holy."
There is a distinction between who we are today and who God knew us to be before we came to earth. Before we entered a life of sin, God made us holy.
We were created to carry his image, made to be a living display of his love, joy, and peace.
Instead of destroying us for falling from his grace, God gave us Jesus Christ. It appears that despite our sinful nature, God still sees his image when he sees us.
He could have punished all of humanity, but instead, he created someone who looked like us and lived like us to lead us by example.
Our choice to follow Christ restores us to our heavenly father and transforms us back into the image of God.
Romans 12 says, "I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God which is your reasonable service."
God saved us because he saw potential in us. He knew that once we were reconciled to him, we would once again become holy as he is.
Pray this prayer
Father,
Help me to see myself as you see me. I am holy, righteous, and sanctified by you. Show me the things in my life that keep me from being the vision you have of me. I give back to you the life you have given me. In Jesus's name, amen.
